Police Discover Small Arsenal after Domestic Incident in Wheeling

City police confiscated weapons and ammunition after a domestic violence incident that has put a man behind bars. Nathan Hersberger 28, of 113 1/2 Edgewood Street is facing a charge of domestic battery. Police responded to the home about 3:40 a.m. Sunday after 23-year-old Rikki Smith of Sardis, Ohio, told authorities she was punched in the head and slapped in the face numerous times by Hersberger, She said they had been in an argument that started over the way he had parked the car. She was locked in the bedroom for a time, but broke out and ran outside, police said. When two neighbors tried to intervene, Hersberger asked them if they wanted to fight and allegedly threatened to get one of his guns. After his arrest, police said they found about six shotguns and rifles inside the home. They also bayonets, brass knuckles, knives and ammunition.
