St. Vincent de Paul Parish School distributed iPads to all their middle school students, grades 6-8, on January 7, 2012.
The iPad distribution is part of a one to one tablet program and may be the first of its kind in the Northern Panhandle and is a first in the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston.
St. Vincent partnered with StratusWave Communications of Wheeling to develop and install a high speed wireless Internet network throughout the school.
As part of this network St. Vincent's is also the first school in Ohio County to participate in a Diocesan pilot test to filter their Internet usage for the protection of children.
Students and teachers have embraced the technology using applications to take notes, download books, and access math and science worksheets for homework.
