Weirton Madonna senior Drazen Frankovitch has signed a letter of intent to continue his basketball career at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Frankovitch, 6-6, averaged 14 points, to go along with 11 rebounds, as a senior. Frankovitch helped the Blue Dons win the Wes Virginia Class A state championship as a junior, and back-to-back OVAC championships in 2011 and 2012. The Blue Dons advanced back to the state tournament in 2012, but were eliminated in the first round by Charleston Catholic.
"I feel Aquinas is a good fit for Drazen," said Dan Frankovitch, Drazen's father.
Aquinas is an NAIA school and plays basketball in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC). They are coached by former Michigan assistant coach Dave Hammer.
Frankovitch chose Aquinas, a catholic school, over offers from other schools such as Bluefield State, Benedictine, and Hood College. He's undecided on his major.
