Loughry receives state chamber endorsement

Republican Supreme Court candidate Allen Loughry has received another endorsement – this one coming from the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber's endorsement comes days after the West Virginia Coal Association announced it also would endorse Loughry. The candidate said the endorsements show the courage of each organization's membership to seek a positive change in the state's business and industry climate.

"I am humbled to know that, as the leading trade organizations for our state's business community, the Chamber and Coal Association believe that I will provide the fairness and impartiality that all West Virginia businesses and private citizens deserve," Loughry said in a statement.

Loughry has worked as a lawyer for the Supreme Court for the past nine years. He has also practiced law as a senior assistant attorney general, arguing more than 20 cases before the state's highest court. This experience proved to the Chamber that Loughry has what it takes to fill one of two open seats on the bench.

"We believe you have a history of working hard to move West Virginia forward," Chamber president Steve Roberts said in endorsing Loughry. "The West Virginia Chamber PAC is pleased to support your candidacy for Supreme Court."

Loughry will go up against fellow Republican John Yoder and Democrats Tish Chafin and Robin Davis in the Nov. 6 general election.
