West Virginia's fifth Drug Take-Back day netted 3,742 pounds of unwanted prescription drugs.
Federal officials said the unused or expired drugs were collected Saturday at 120 sites across the state, according to the Associated Press.
During the previous event in April, residents turned in more than 4,500 pounds of unwanted drugs.
U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin and John Ryan with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration say ridding homes of unwanted drugs helps authorities fight prescription drug abuse.
