OVMC hosts inaugural "Pink Power Night" for women

Posted: Updated:

OVMC hosted their first "Pink Power Night" Tuesday in their Nurses Residence Auditorium.

The night, geared towards women of the Ohio Valley, is meant to bring women of all ages together for a night to relax.

The inaugural evening focused on Breast Cancer Awareness, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

Each month will have a different theme focused on ways for women to live healthy and happy lives.

"Women in the household make 80 percent of the healthcare decisions and also they're so busy taking care of other people that they rarely take time for themselves." said Laurie Labishak, Director of Community Relations for OVMC.

"This is a chance for women, once a month, to hit the pause button and come here and it's all about them, a chance to be pampered, to socialize with other women, to network with other women, it's just a great time for women to take a break." said Labishak.

Tuesday's "Pink Power Night" also featured the unveiling of the 2012 Ford Warriors in Pink quilt.

The quilt holds approximately 100 squares individually decorated by local supporters with messages of dedication, remembrance and celebration.

The quilt was presented by Rich Galardi, owner of Ohio Valley Ford, who represented the Neighborhood Ford Store.

Door prizes and refreshments were also provided.

The evenings, which will be held every month, are free and open to the public.
