Seven students at Edison Local High School have been suspended from school for 10 days after allegedly drinking beer on school property during a Powder Puff football practice according to Edison Local Superintendent Bill Beattie.
The incident was reported to the high school principal and soon after an investigation took place. The school has a zero tolerance policy against drinking.
"The Edison Local School District and the Board of Education is not going to tolerate underage drinking especially on school property. When this situation was brought to our attention a full investigation took place and once the investigation was completed the appropriate disciplinary actions were taken on the students," says Superintendent Bill Beattie.
The parents say the punishment is too harsh and would like to talk to the school board about reversing the punishment.
There are currently two attorneys involved right now representing some of the students.
Parents are upset that the students were interrogated without being present and the severity of the punishment. The school board will meet Wednesday night were this could heavily discussed.
