While many food pantries are collecting donations to get through the holiday season, students with Marshall University's College of Fine Arts have organized a campaign for provide young Cabell County students with non-food items to get them through the holiday season.
"Many children in Cabell County schools go hungry on the weekends," MU COFA Special Projects Coordinator Jay Ike said in a news release. "They don't know if they'll have food – nor where they'll stay.
"Please join College of Fine Arts students as we collect items to stuff school pantries with necessities so they can send children home over Thanksgiving break with plenty of food and toiletries."
From 9 a.m. through 4 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Marshall University Student Center, students will collect kid-friendly foods, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, backpacks or tote bags, coats, gloves, bedding and more. Ike said gently used items will be welcome as well.
