Union Local's Mark Cisar Out as Football Coach

Posted: Updated:

Mark Cisar is out as the Union Local High School head football coach after seven seasons.

Cisar was informed by the school board that they voted not bring him back as head coach, but they did hire him as the school's head baseball coach.

Cisar led the Jets to the first playoff appearance and post-season victory in school history in 2007, and followed it up with another one in 2008. Led by all-state quarterback Jordan Barbina, the Jets defeated St.Clairsville 25-6 in the opening round of the '08 playoffs, before losing to Martins Ferry in the regional semifinals the next week.

But the program has fallen on hard times as of late, winning just two games in the past three seasons. Cisar finished his career on the Union Local sidelines with a record of 32-41.
