The flu season is off to an early start this year.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control says the current strain of flu virus that is circulating is one that tends to cause more severe illness, especially in the elderly.
The good news, according to the CDC, is more than a third of Americans have been vaccinated, and the vaccine formulated for this year is well-matched to the strains of the virus seen so far.
