Police Investigate Family Dollar Robbery; Suspect at Large

Wheeling police continue to investigate and search for the suspect of an armed robbery Saturday night Family Dollar in Center Wheeling.

At about 9:48 p.m., police received a call of an armed robbery in progress at the Family Dollar in the 2400 block of Chapline Street.

According to authorities, when officers arrived at the scene they found an employee whose arm had been cut. The employee told police her arm was cut by the suspect during the robbery. The employee said the suspect grabbed her from behind and told her he would cut her.

The suspect then grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash from the store register and took off running down the alley behind the store and then headed toward 24th Street, according to police.

Several officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect.
