The assessed value of real estate and personal property in Marshall County have increased by $557.2 million, says Marshall County Assessor Chris Kessler.
This jump is attributed to the natural gas boom in the area, according to Kessler.
Once public utility values are added to the totals, the value of all property in Marshall County is expected to be approximately $2.7 billion, a $913 million increase over the last two years.
"This type of increase can only be described as extraordinary and is a result of new investment in the county," said Kessler.
Kessler anticipates growth in the gas industry continue as several plants are expanding in the area and construction of the Dominion Resources Plant continues.
