Weirton Police Arrest 7 While Executing Search Warrant
Hancock County, W.Va. -
Police in Weirton arrested seven individuals Thursday, including two minors, on drug charges while executing a search warrant.
According to a report from Weirton police, officers from the Street Crimes unit served a search warrant at 938 Bryon Street. Officers recovered six ounces of marijuana from 22-year-old Ronald Johnson of Weirton.
As a result of the investigation, authorities say they determined that Andrew Mainenti, 18, of Weirton and Austin Jones, 18, of Follansbee conspired with Johnson to travel to Steubenville to purchase the marijuana and return to West Virginia to distribute.
While executing the warrant, multiple individuals arrived at the property to purchase marijuana from Johnson, according to police.
Officers also retrieved multiple cell phones, which were used in the illegal drug transactions. Authorities say those devices will be analyzed to retrieve any additional information related to the arrests.
