Nailers Lose On Controversial Goal

The Nailers fell to Elmira 2-1 in shootout, Wednesday night losing on a controversial goal.

Wheeling led 1-0 in the second period thanks to Chris Barton's 17th goal of the season in first. The Jackals would tie the game on a goal from Kevin Harvey, but as the video on WTRF would show, Harvey kicked the puck in with his skate, which is illegal, the goal would stand.

The two teams would battle through the third period and overtime, sending the game to a shootout.

In the shootout , the Jackals Matt Carter was the only player to score as Maxime Clermont stopped all five Nailer shooters.

Peter Delmas was robbed of his team record 10th career shutout but still stopped 37 of 38 shots.

The Nailers only managed 15 shots on goal.

Wheeling will visit Trenton, Friday.
