Ohio DNR: No Chronic Wasting Disease Found

Testing on Ohio's deer herd has found no evidence of chronic wasting disease, that from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.  The disease is a degenerative brain disease that affects elk, mule deer and white-tailed deer.

Wildlife officials collected over 500 samples last year and for the 11th straight year, all samples were negative for the illness.

The ODNR have conducted surveillance across the state for CWD.

Although no evidence has been found in Ohio, twenty-two states and two Canadian provinces have had reports of the disease among in their deer herd.
