A man wanted in Belmont County was arrested after he allegedly attempted to use a taser on his ex-girlfriend when he discovered a nude photo of another man on her cell phone.
Wheeling Police responded to an address on Fulton Street in Wheeling on Tuesday after reports of a physical altercation between James Hunter and a female, when they reportedly found the victim visibly shaken. She told police Hunter discovered the photo on her phone, became angry, and demanded to know who sent it to her. Hunter then allegedly "grabbed the woman by the arms and shook her." He then reportedly retrieved a Taser and tried to stun her three times, on the neck, on the back and on the leg. The woman said he missed all three times.
The victim said she then dialed 911. Hunter then allegedly threw her car keys so she could not leave. The responding officer noted redness on both of the victim's forearms and hands, and observed a cut on the inside of her ring finger. When questioned, Hunter reportedly told the officer there was no physical contact and the victim needed to leave his property.
After a background check, it was discovered Hunter was wanted on a warrant on charges of failure to appear for fraud and he was arrested.
