A local man has been flown to a Pittsburgh hospital following an ATV accident on Locust Hill Road in Hancock County.

Hancock County 911 received a call of an ATV accident just before 8 p.m. on Thursday. A 19- year-old man from Chester, whose name is not being released at this time, reportedly ran into a tree in a wooded area.

Members of the Hancock County Sheriff's Office along with the Lawrenceville Volunteer Fire Department, New Manchester Volunteer Fire Department and residents in the area assisted in the removal of the patient from the woods.

During the incident, Locust Hill Road was shut down to one lane while Allison Road, near the intersection of Locust Hill, was shut down completely to land a medical helicopter. The patient was flown to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian Hospital after sustaining serious injuries.

"At this time, there is no evidence to suggest intoxication," said Hancock County Sheriff Ralph Fletcher of the incident.
