The top-seeded Wheeling Park Patriots were knocked out of the OVAC 5A tournament after a 10-2 loss at the hands of the Cambridge Bobcats in one 5A semifinal. The Bobcats erupted for seven runs off Patriots starter, and Potomac State recruit Andrew Kowalo, in the fourth inning. Cambridge will face Edison, a 7-0 winner over Indian Creek, in next weekend's championship game.
In 4A, top seed Harrison Central knocked off Martins Ferry and Steubenville scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh for a walk-off, 6-5 win over Buckeye Local.
The 3A final will pit Magnolia and Linsly. The Blue Eagles blanked Shenandoah 6-0, while Linsly eliminated Shenandoah 5-1.
The AA championship game will match Shadyside, 4-3 winners over Bridgeport, and Steubenville Central, a 6-2 winner over top-seed Toronto.
Madonna and Bishop Donahue will vie for the Class A championship. The Blue Dons shutout Conotton Valley 3-0, the Bishops blasted Paden City 15-0 in five innings.
The OVAC baseball committee is still working on the championship game schedule, due to several prom conflicts.
