33 Dogs Found In Jefferson County Home, Puppy Beheaded by Starving Animals
Amsterdam Police were on the scene Friday of what they called deplorable conditions when they found 33 dogs in a home at 112 Euclid Avenue in Amsterdam, Ohio.
33 dogs were removed from the home; four others were dead, and a puppy was beheaded by the other animals who were starving to death. One dog was put down due to his condition.
Amsterdam Police Chief Todd Walker said he has been to the property several times, but never saw the animals. Today, he responded when neighbors complained of loose dogs in the neighborhood. Some dogs reportedly had residents pinned on their porch. One neighbor fired a shot at the dogs as they tried to attack a resident.
Some of the animals were taken to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter, while other area shelters were called in to assist taking the dogs. Chief Walker says the home owner will be facing charges of animal neglect.
