East Wheeling Spots Complex Needs $600,000 for Utility Relocation
A redevelopment project in East Wheeling is moving forward.
The city of Wheeling has been in negotiations with AEP over utility relocation work at the sports complex site. AEP has estimated the utility relocation to cost nearly $600,000. To move forward, the city needs to rework their franchise agreement, to make funding available.
If council enacts this ordinance, and the funding gap is closed, the project will go out for bidding on May 15. Bids will open on June 18, and construction will start in August.
City Manager Robert Herron says the work would take 60 to 90 days.
