Siege of Fort Randolph set for weekend

Posted: Updated:

POINT PLEASANT, WV – Re-enactors will turn back the clock to 1778 May 17-19 during the 11th annual Siege of Fort Randolph encampment at Krodel Park in Point Pleasant.

The fort will host the three-day event revolving around a military siege intended to begin the return
of land back to the Shawnee Nation and the circumstances leading to it. The main event features the re-enactment of Chief Cornstalk's fateful visit to Fort Randolph in the fall of 1777 and the subsequent siege placed upon the fort in 1778 in which a war party of more than 200 Shawnee warriors formed a line stretching from the Ohio to the Kanawha rivers.

The re-enactment is May 18 at 2 p.m. and is the only event of the weekend that requires payment for entrance. The cost is $3, with children under 6 admitted free.

For information, visit or contact Craig
Hesson at 304-675-7933 or The Mason County Convention and Visitors
Bureau at 304-675-6788 or also is available to provide information about the siege.
