Robinson, McCullough Peat as State Track Champions


St.Clairsville High School senior Alyssa Robinson repeated as Ohio Division II state shot put champion. The Penn State signee threw 46-1 and-a-half inches to claim her second consecutive gold medal. She finished her season undefeated.

River High School senior Cassidy McCullough also brought home a second consecutive state championship, winning the low hurdles with a time of 43.27. The West Virginia Wesleyan recruit finished sixth in the 100 hurdles.

St.Clairsville junior Jaylon Brown finished third in the 100 yard dash with a time of 10.95. He placed fourth in the 200 with a time of 22.54.

Steubenville Catholic's relay teams were red hot, placing in all three relays. Michaela Gotta, Kara Kakascik, Monica Rigaud and Taylor Zapolnik finished fourth in the 4x2, sixth in the 4x1 and eighth in the 4x4. Rigaud finished second in the 100 hurdles (15.39), helping the Crusaders girls finish sixth in the overall team standings.

And what a spring for Indian Creek's Alex Young. The senior was named All-Ohio Valley in baseball and placed fifth in the 400 with a time of 49.65.
