After several years of health scares and unemployment put his promising career in doubt, Brian Vickers never lost sight of the finish line. He FINALLY got there Sunday as the winner at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
Vickers pulled into the lead late, as Tony Stewart was in fuel conservation mode, and took off on the green-white-checkered finish to win the Camping World RV 301.
Vickers snapped a 75-race losing streak with his third career Cup victory. Vickers has run just eight races this season for Michael Waltrip Racing.
After the race, Vickers talked about one of the most special moments of his life, "When you have so much love and support around you, that makes all the difference in the world. So I've got to thank my family and friends for that through all that. Obviously being able to win after all that is just almost unimaginable."
Kyle Busch was second and a strong Jeff Burton finished third. Pole winner Brad Keselowski was fourth and Aric Almirola fifth.
The Cup drivers have the week off, then head to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Brickyard 400.
