MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - A State Police spokesman says a second suspect has been charged in the tampering of caskets inside two mausoleums at a Martinsburg cemetery.
Sgt. Michael Baylous says Richard Ruffner of Inwood was arraigned Tuesday in Berkeley County Magistrate Court on charges of felony destruction of property and disinterment or displacement of a body.
Ruffner was being held at the Eastern Regional Jail. Jail records didn't indicate whether he has an attorney.
Another man, David P. Bowers III of Hedgesville, was arraigned on the same charges last week. The third suspect remains uncaught.
State police say Bowers told investigators that he and two other men broke into the mausoleums at Rosedale Cemetery to take jewelry from bodies. The jewelry was taken to two Martinsburg stores and sold for cash.
