With school starting and the weather getting cooler, local swimming pools are preparing to close for the season.
Pool visitors rode the water slide, jumped off the diving boards and swam on Sunday, for what could be one of the last hot and sunny days of the summer. The summer weather this year threw a lot of ups and downs our way with what seemed like more rainfall than usual, but those WTRF talked to say even though the weather wasn't always great, they made sure to take advantage of the sunny days.
One visitor said, "I feel like it was a very good summer. There was a little bit of patchy weather with the rainstorms and everything but when it was good it was very sunny and very hot so we had a lot of business and everyone seems like they had a very good time."
Wheeling Park pool employees said the pool will be closing on Labor Day and other outdoor pools are closing close to that date.
