Young professionals are making an effort to preserve some of Wheeling's history.
The Ohio Valley Young Preservationists have started to document Wheeling's historic Mount Wood Cemetery. While the process to get the information down for historical purposes might prove straightforward, it can get involved.
One preservationist, Rebekah Karelis, said, "Everyone, by teams, is going through the cemetery, and looking at every gravestone. They're taking down the inscriptions on the stones, they're surveying its condition, and they are creating a record for each gravestone. And so, that's all part of the Mount Wood Cemetery restoration efforts."
About 30 people got involved in those efforts of the Ohio Valley Young Preservationists, but they'd like to have more. They meet at River City Ale Works the last Wednesday of each month for "happy hour."
