Wheeling Central Survives Conversion Attempt from Kiski

The Wheeling Central Maroon Knights hung on for a hard-fought 20-18 win over the Kiski Cougars at Wheeling Island Stadium, in a sea-saw affair.

Wheeling Central senior running back Parker Henry ran for 115 yards on 20 carries, including the go-ahead 51-yard touchdown scamper in the fourth quarter.

Kiski quarterback Brandon Gillepsie, a University of Rutgers recruit, connected with Terrance Kimble for a touchdown with 22 seconds left, to cut the lead to two points.

But Gillepsie's two-point conversion attempt failed, and the Maroon Knights ran out the clock, for their third straight win.

Wheeling Central (5-1) will host unbeaten Shadyside (6-0) next Friday night at Wheeling Island Stadium.
