James Kent, director of the Greater Huntington Park & Recreation District's Ritter Park Tennis Center, has earned an upgraded certification rating through the U.S. Professional Tennis Association, the world's oldest and largest association of tennis-teaching professionals.
He earned the new rating following an extensive examination of various tennis and business skills. USPTA certification requires that applicants demonstrate their abilities in areas such as tennis operations management and business skills, tennis teaching and playing skills, stroke analysis and group and private lesson instruction.
Tennis-teaching professionals earn a USPTA rating based on their initial certification exam scores. He earned an advanced Professional 1 rating.
USPTA, founded in 1927 and with more than 12,500 members worldwide, strives to raise the standards of the tennis profession while promoting greater awareness of the sport.
