No.8 Steubenville rallied to knock off No.2 Indian Valley 17-14 at Dover's Crater Stadium to claim the Division IV Region 13 championship.
Big Red sophomore running back Johnnie Blue carried the ball 20 times for 167 yards, including the go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Sophomore quarterback Mandela Lawrence-Burke scored the other touchdown for the Red on a five-yard run in the first quarter. Blue nearly scored on a nifty jaunt down the sideline in the second quarter, instead, set up a 37-yard field goal by John Paul Duff to make the score 10-7 Big Red.
Both of the Braves' touchdowns came from running back Jake Davis in the first half, as Indian Valley carried a 14-10 lead into the break.
Blue also came up with a huge defensive play, coming up with a strip-sack, recovered by Big Red, to seal the victory with 1:03 remaining.
The Braves' season come to an end at 10-3.
Steubenville (9-4) advances to take on Youngstown Cardinal Mooney (9-4) in next week's Division IV state semifinals at a sight to be determined this weekend. Mooney held of Cle.Benedictine 28-21 in the Region 11 title game.
