Ohio Governor hopeful Ed Fitzgerald stopped by the Ohio Valley Sunday to hear the concerns of voters. Fitzgerald began his trip at the American Legion in St. Clairsville before making his way to Local 1238 in Martins Ferry.
There he met with laid off Ormet workers and union leaders as they held a round table discussion about what would be needed to reopen the plant in Hannibal.
They believe they'll need a better line of communication with the governor, and Fitzgerald says he has a history of bringing people together.
"I say it all the time, the one part of your authority that's not written in a law but it's true is you can get people to sit down at the table," said Fitzgerald. "I've done it on a dozen issues in Cuyahoga County and I don't necessarily have authority over something but if something is important I'm going to get everybody to sit down at the table."
Ohio Representative Jack Cera and State Senator Lou Gentile were also at the round table discussion.
Fitzgerald is currently the Cuyahoga County Executive and will be the Democratic candidate running against current Ohio Governor John Kasich this November.
