Four inmates at USP Hazelton in Bruceton Mills had 12 months tacked on to their prison sentences after they pleaded guilty to assaulting members of a rival gang, U.S. Attorney William Ihlenfeld reports.

Admitting to assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to do bodily harm were Vicente Chavez, 34, Jose Rodriguez-Zavala, 39, Andres Torales-Medina, 31, and Luis Alberto Garcia, 33. The four, members of the Surenos gang, participated in an assault on members of the rival MS-13 gang.

Chavez was sentenced to 12 months in prison to run consecutive to his current 216-month sentence; Rodriguez-Zavala was sentenced to 12 months in prison to run consecutive to his current 86-month sentence; and, Torales-Medina was sentenced to 12 months in prison to run consecutive to his current 33-month sentence.

Garcia will be sentenced at a later date.

Also seeing their sentences extended were:

 

  • Ryan Fields, 37, who admitted to possession of a prohibited object after the prison staff found a homemade weapon, or shank, in his pants pocket. Fields was sentenced to an additional 12 months in prison, to run consecutive to his current 540-month sentence.
  • Makishea Bobbi Wills, 32, admitted to assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to do bodily harm." Wills was sentenced to 15 months in prison to run consecutive to her current 210-month sentence.

 

All six appeared Jan. 14 in U.S. District Court in Clarksburg.

The cases were prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon S. Flower and investigated by the Special Investigative Services Staff at USP Hazelton.
