It was a short road that had been in the courts for a long time.
On Wednesday, Belmont County Commissioners voted to accept a tentative resolution regarding Newlin Road. The court has ordered Developer Lou Stein to pay the county $48,500, which will go toward future work on that road. The road runs from US Route 40, beside the "All Fore Fun" Miniature Golf Course, back toward the back of the Ohio Valley Plaza, where a new multi-use development is in the works.
Commissioner Mark Thomas said the only downside was that the commission, before he was a member, paid nearly $10,000 for private counsel to fight this case, when the county prosecutor could have done the same thing for free.
Commissioners voted unanimously to
accept the latest resolution. Commissioner Ginny Favede says she is
pleased to have the matter resolved.
