Ohio Valley Media Day Blood Drive Set for Monday

On Monday, you can help save a life at the Annual Ohio Valley Media Blood Donor Drive at WesBanco Arena.

The American Red Cross is hoping for 350 productive blood donations, which means they'll need at least 440 people donating.

They're in need of O Negative, A Negative and B Negative blood types, with O Negative being the universal donor.

Cheryl Gergely of the American Red Cross, says the Media Donor Drive is a big event this year because Mother Nature has caused some trouble at other blood drives.

"This has been a tough season for us, been a lot of cancellations of our blood drives due to snowy weather, bad roads, cold weather, which has impacted our blood drives," said Gergely. "That means we still need to have people coming in to support those people who need blood in our area hospitals. Monday's blood drive, Ohio Valley Media Day Blood Drive is the perfect opportunity to come out, donate blood, and help save lives."

Cheryl said they've added more staff to avoid long lines, but you can make an appointment by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or online at RedCrossBlood.org. WTRF is a proud sponsor of Ohio Valley Media Day Blood Drive.

The drive is Monday at WesBanco Arena from 10 a.m to 7 p.m.
