Senior citizens of Belmont County now have a great source of information available right in their own back yard.
Tuesday the first ever Senior Citizens Educational Day was held at the Community Room at the Ohio Valley Mall. The meeting consisted of information about a number services available to senior citizens throughout the county.
Educational days will now be held on the first Tuesday of the month with a different topic planned for each meeting. Tuesday's crowd far exceeded expectations with more than 80 people in attendance.
"We anticipated between 40 and 50 individuals," said David Hacker of Belmont County Senior Services. "So having over thirty more than we anticipated is a good demonstration of these types of topics and the level of need."
Those attending the seminars will receive various discounts from several business throughout the mall. The program is available to any Belmont County resident over the age of 60.
