First Sentry Bancshares, the parent company of First Sentry Bank of Huntington, reported net earnings of $3.29 million in 2013, surpassing the previous record of $3.16 million in 2012.

"Fueling this net revenue growth was the continued loyal support of our customers who afforded us opportunities to maintain loan volume levels throughout the year," said Geoff Sheils, president and CEO. "This plus an improvement in the net interest margin combined with our continued disciplined expense management were the primary contributors to our record net income in 2013."

First Sentry Bancshares is a one-bank holding company headquartered in Huntington. It has full-service banking offices in Huntington, Barboursville and Hamlin. The company, which started in 1996, has more than 700 local shareholders and more than $490 million in assets and more than $368 million in loans outstanding.
