Ukrainian Priest Visits Franciscan University, Speaks on Crisis in Home Country
From Ukraine to Steubenville, comes a direct connection to what Ukrainian protesters call the "Revolution of Dignity."
Father Yuriy Sakvuk and the Franciscan University of Steubenville had planned his visit months ago around a report on the work of Ukrainian Catholic University in L'viv, Ukraine. Instead, the priest found himself explaining to Americans what recent protests concern - and offers hope for the future there. He said, "What is happening in Ukraine is also beautiful. Because people are going on the pilgrimage from the 'Empire of Fear' to the 'Kingdom of Dignity.'"
Father Sakvuk also mentioned one of his students, who instead of defending a doctoral dissertation, joined the protesters and was killed by snipers.
