UPDATE: Bond Set at $250,000 for Jefferson County Woman Charged in Child's Death
A Steubenville woman, charged with reckless homicide and child endangerment after her four-month old child was found unresponsive in a bathtub on April 3, appeared in court on Wednesday morning.
Celicia Wilson faces a prison sentence of 10 years for the reckless homicide charge if found guilty, and could go to prison for 5 years if found guilty of endangering children. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday, May 2, and her bond was set at $250,000.
On Tuesday, Wilson was arrested at her Oregon Avenue home. Back on April 3, according to police, a 7-year-old child discovered the baby and Wilson, who had passed out in the bathtub. The seven-year-old child removed the baby from the tub and yelled for help, alerting a neighbor who arrived on the scene and dialed 911.
The child was pronounced dead at the hospital. Wilson's bond was set at $250,000, and she will make a court appearance on Wednesday.
