Moundsville Brush Fire Burns Half an Acre of Land, Children Suspected Culprits
Moundsville volunteer firefighters spent Sunday evening battling a brush fire that scorched half an acre of land.
The fire department was called around 7 p.m. Sunday about the fire behind the Busy Beaver. Police Chief Danny Holmes said they had about half an acre burned, and when they first arrived, Holmes said the flames reached four feet high.
He said it wasn't an easy task to get to as they had to fill water vests and hike to the fire.
Holmes said it was extinguished in about half an hour. The fire was reportedly started by juveniles.
