Local Artists to be Highlighted as New Art and Antique Shop Opens on National Road

Posted: Updated:
WHEELING - A brand new business has opened up on National Road in Wheeling.

It's called ETC., and features art, antiques, jewelry and home d├ęcor. It's located at 1155 National Road, and when shoppers walk through the doors, they're greeted with a Moroccan-style theme and beautifully restored wood floors.

Dozens of paintings, big and small, line the walls, while shelves of pottery are found along the walls. In the middle of the store, stands a large case of unique antique jewelry.

Owner and proprietor Charlotte Karges said she has been an antique dealer for over 20 years, traveling and doing shows. Karges said there is a lot of packing and unpacking involved, and she's happy to have a place to house all of her treasures, permanently.

Each month, Karges said she hopes to highlight a different local artist. This month, she chose Doug Jackson of Wellsburg, who does pottery pieces.

Friday and Saturday, ETC. is partnering with Lynn Buch Interiors and the Clothes Collection for an event called "A Vanity Affair."

Karges invites shoppers to come park their cars, and walk around the Woodsdale-area shops, and stop at some of the nearby restaurants.

"Come in, we're excited. There's a lot going on in this area, there are several new shops going in. The Clothes Collection is right down the street, The Alpha is around the corner, it's a great location. You can come, really, and park and walk and spend a couple hours in this area."

'A Vanity Affair' is being held Friday, May 16 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The regular hours of ETC. will be Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can also call 304-281-8464 to make an appointment.
