Members of the energy community gathered at Cabela's Conference Center at the Highlands for a workshop on energy efficiency Friday evening.
The class specifically looks at efficiency practices in t he design of commercial and government buildings in this two part series offered by the West Virginia Division of Energy.
Organizers say understanding the basics can save both time and money.
"You save the carbon footprint because each of us is responsible for the environment and every BTU or kilowatt-hour we save has an impact on the carbon footprint and the greenhouse gas conditions in the world, so it actually helps," said The Director of Industrial Assessment Center at WVU, Bhaskaran Gopalakrishnan.
Topics included an introduction to energy management, energy systems in heating and efficiency measures.
