Wheeling's Kelley Mortakis finished second at the 38th Ogden Half Marathon Classic after posting a time of 1:33:48, which was nearly two minutes better than her time from last year. Mortakis, a former Wheeling Central standout and recent Marshall graduate was 1:22 behind female winner Tammy Slusser of Monroeville, who was the first American winner in three year and was clocked at 1:32:26.
The men's winner was Kenyan Philip Lagat, who ran the 13.1 miles in 1:08:57. Countryman Wesley Ochoro was second, followed by 2011 Ogden champion Colin Gundling, a former Wheeling native, who lives in Pennsylvania now. Gundling's time of 1:18:41 was two minutes faster than his winning time. Martins Ferry's Cedric Robinson was fifth in a time of 1:21:52 and Sean Flanagan of Triadelphia was seventh with a time of 1:22:44.
