Piece of Old Fort Steuben Bridge Transformed Into Observation Deck
A piece of the old Fort Steuben Bridge has been transformed into an observation deck in one local community.
The $250,000 project turned a part of the bridge into an observation deck along with the repaving of the parking lot at the Steubenville Marina.
The city's goal is to attract more people down to the marina for fishing and other recreational activity. Steubenville Mayor Domineck Mucci, Jr., said, "Hopefully, in the future, we will have improvements at the Steubenville Marina we can start developing and bringing attention to the riverbanks of the Ohio River."
The contract was signed back in October, but construction began in March. The observation deck is officially open to to the public, but the official completion date is July 3 as more work needs to be done to remove the graffiti at the base of the deck and other miscellaneous items.
