Alleged Burglar at Benwood Dollar General Falls Through Ceiling as Police Arrive
A Wheeling man has been arrested after allegedly breaking into the Benwood Dollar General store, where he reportedly fell from his hiding place in the ceiling when police arrived.
Ronald Louis Perrelli, 49, faces charges of breaking and entering, destruction of property and obstructing an officer after the incident which occurred around 1:30 a.m. Saturday night.
According to police, when they responded to alarms going off at the store, they noted movement in the ceiling tiles and called for Perrelli to come down. He reportedly refused and attempted to crawl his way across the ceiling when it gave way and he fell to the floor.
Police said Perrelli is also a suspect in a previous break-in at the store in May, in which a large amount of cigarettes were stolen. He is currently being held in the Northern Regional Jail on a $10,000 bond.
