UPDATE: Jefferson County Man Found Guilty of Killing Girlfriend

Michael Mitchell was found guilty of murder Friday.
According to court officials, the jury found Mitchell guilty of murder with a gun specification and tampering with evidence.
The murder trial of Michael Mitchell continues on Friday in Jefferson County.
Mitchell is accused of shooting his girlfriend, Maria Cantwell, in her Irondale home on August 8 of 2013. After the alleged murder, Mitchell reportedly fled to the Sebring/Beliot, Ohio area.
Shortly after Mitchell was profiled on local news, a tip came in with additional information about his whereabouts and his vehicle location. U.S. Marshals from West Virginia and northern Ohio, U.S. Marshal Task Force Officers, Jefferson County Deputies and Goshen Police Officers followed the tip which led them to Mitchell's vehicle.
Once located by police, a search of Mitchell's truck allegedly revealed a cache of arms and ammunition. The cache included two AR-15 pattern rifles, two Norinco Mac-10s in 9mm and thousands of rounds of ammunition.
Mitchell was arrested without incident.
Under consent, authorities also searched Mitchell's residence and located and seized several other firearms. Mitchell was then extradited to Jefferson County Jail in Steubenville. Mitchell has pleaded not guilty to two charges, murder and tampering with evidence, and is currently in the Jefferson County jail on a $1 million bond.
