Shots fired, early Tuesday morning in East Wheeling. Police were notified just before 2 o'clock that shots were fired near the American Legion. According to police, when they arrived on scene they started patting down individuals who were standing outside the bar and later arrested 25-year-old Kevin James Thompson of Wheeling.
Police found a baggie of crack cocaine in Thompson's pocket as a result of a search. James was taken into custody for possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine. Residents in the area, who witnessed the events, are outraged and say the shots fired had nothing to do with Thompson, who was inside the bar at the time of the shooting, nor did it have anything to do with the American Legion.
