Jefferson County - Changes in a blasting work schedule on Ohio Route 7 could cause some tie-ups for area drivers.

Work continues on the hillside near Rush Run in Jefferson County as part of a $22-million dollar landslide repair project. Beaver Excavating Company, from Canton, Ohio, is performing the work Monday through Saturday between 4 and 6 p.m., causing some minor traffic delays. Weather permitting, both north and southbound traffic will continue to be stopped daily for approximately 10 minutes while the blasting occurs.

Motorists should plan ahead to avoid delays during this timeframe. Crews plan to continue the operation throughout the conclusion of the job anticipated for later this summer. State Route 7 has been reduced to one lane in each direction on the northbound side of the highway between Rayland and Brilliant, since a major landslide occurred in March 2011.
