Indian Creek Picking Up Educational Expenses for Teen Convicted in Steubenville Rape

Posted: Updated:

The Indian Creek School District will be covering the educational expenses of convicted rapist Trent Mays while he serves his sentence in a juvenile detention center.

Monday, a hearing was held in Jefferson County after it was discovered that although Mays had attended Steubenville High School, he was in fact a resident of the Indian Creek School district, and an incorrect entry by the court had resulted in Steubenville City Schools being designated as the source of funding to pay for May's education while he served his sentence.

Mays and Ma'lik Richmond were convicted in March of 2013 of the rape of a 16-year-old girl at party in Steubenville in a case that captured the nation’s attention. You can find our archived stories here.
