STEUBENVILLE - Officials met on Tuesday as they furthered efforts to make Steubenville a better city.

The Comprehensive Plan Implementation Committee met on Tuesday morning where topics from the proposed Civic Plaza to a family friendly trail coming to the city were discussed. Urban Projects Director, Chris Petrossi, discussed a traffic study the city is looking to do conduct in order to bring a civic plaza into downtown. Also brought up was the idea of bringing light industry to the south end of town.

Evan Scurti, with the  Jefferson County Port Authority, said, "We are seeing the inquiries continue in our office especially in the oil and gas sector. land along route 7 is a hot area right now, and I want us to grab a piece of that lot."

Not everyone was on board with bringing light industry to the south end. Dave Mosti ,owner of Mosti Funeral Home, said he is skeptical of how that would effect his business and others in that area.

Also during the meeting, the trail and greenways committee announced that the "Heritage Trail" is very close to opening and is ready for signage.
