The man who allegedly stole a water department vehicle to use in six burglaries pleaded not guilty Wednesday.

Back in April, Michael Hawthorne allegedly stole a Steubenville water department van that he ended up crashing and running away from on Highland Avenue. The burglaries began in Harrison County at a grocery store in Hopedale and ended in Jefferson County at several stores in Wintersville.

Hawthorne is charged with failure to comply with the order of a police officer and receiving stolen property.  He is currently being held in the Harrison County Jail, waiting to be transferred to Jefferson County.

His bond was set at 30,000 dollars.
