Williams Energy Takes Gas Industry Discussion to Moundsville Middle School
Natural gas drilling is a subject full of strong opinions and skepticism across the Ohio Valley, but one local company is working to educate the public on it, and they're starting with local youth.
On Wednesday at Moundsville Middle School, Williams Energy held a class to teach children about the booming energy industries in the area. With so many heated opinions, Williams thought it would be a good idea to help them learn more about the industry and give them an opportunity to make their own decisions.
Olivia McCullough, an intern with Williams, said. "Kids this age, you know they see it going on around them but they don't know exactly what it is or what's happening and what it means for their area."
Williams spokesperson Helen Humphreys continued, "Whether you're talking about a rig, or a compressor station, or a coal mine, they're learning about these natural resources that are really helping to spur this economy in this region."
Williams expects to have more of these classes in local schools throughout this coming year.
